Around Auckland.

Northwards, on the east coast, is the Whangaparaoa peninsular where we walked round the Shakespear park.
We found built-in picture frames, and lots of pukekos (chicken-size birds, with brilliant blue plumage).
A ferry-trip across the harbour from Auckland to Rangitoto, the newest volcanic island in the area.

We climbed to the top, exploring the lava-tunnels en-route (really needed a torch).
We only drove round part of the Coromandel peninsular, as it is further and larger than appears. We stopped for a walk around Cathedral Cove and paddling in the volcanic pools on the 'Hot water beach'.
